When the day of toil is done,
When the race of life is run,
Father grant thy wearied one,
Rest forevermore ~(Joseph Barnby)
The death of our dear cousin Marlon came to us with cold waves and was indeed a real shock to us. As children growing up, cousins are usually the first friends one will have. They are the best of both worlds because they are family and friends at the same time. Marlon, was one such cousin, and beamed like light wherever he went. He was a man of conviction and could hardly be persuaded. We remember the times when we would have heated but friendly exchanges of divergent views on matters of common interest. He was a selfless gentleman who made time and effort for absolutely everyone he encountered. Marlon liked to help people and his selfless nature was demonstrated when he was the Deputy Director of an organisation in London – Living Space. Through Marlon’s support, he was able to help a lot of Ghanaians gain employment with the organisation, and up until this day whenever his name is mentioned, most people remember him for the help he rendered to them. He was kind- hearted and exuded life big enough to share.
The world is a stage and Marlon came and played many parts, amply reflected on social media, when he created the ‘I love Akpafu group’ on Facebook. He brought the indigenes of Akpafu together both home and abroad on this platform. He was a member of the New Patriotic Party, U.K. Branch for years before relocating to Ghana in 2017 to pursue his political ambition, and during the pursuit of his political dreams, Marlon took the final bow from life’s stage.
It is so difficult to accept, and the reality of this loss will live with us for a long time to come. You were such an incredible force in our family; you played a very vital role whenever the family had to carry out various activities. We are broken because you are gone, yet whole because you were here.
You are departed, but you will never be forgotten. Rest well our dear cousin, till we meet again.
